Simone Miani's artistic practice investigates the transformative influence of society on concrete reality. Exploring fundamental themes such as collective perception, coexistence, the social contract, and sacredness, he has developed a singular and deeply collaborative process.
Miani uses public debate as a real tool for the very conception and realization of the work. This process involves the use of interviews as the main investigative tools, social media as a public square, and painting as the preferred communicative channel. The idea for each painting does not arise in isolation, but develops in a group, combining the subjective thinking of the participants regarding a specific issue in order to collectively redefine its meaning.
Miani's primary interest in this process is the exploration of the 'other', of otherness and the diversity of ideas. By finding a common meaning among these heterogeneous perspectives, the artist translates and returns this collective experience in the form of an oil painting, created manually.
